Abstract

Organic chemistry deals with various compounds which are both natural and synthetic. It is human nature to strive for better quality of life with passing times. In the same stride the the organic chemist is persistantly endeavours to find better and more simplified ways to synthesise compounds which are new and improvised, with better usage and lesser harmful effects to the environment and lives. One of the recent techniques is retrosynthesis or the disconnection approach. In the present paper various aspects of retrosynthesis are discussed.
