Abstract

The main features of manpower planning are; forecasting: It is the ability of the management to predict the needed manpower either in terms of mathematical projections of trend in the national economy and development in the industry or of judgmental estimate based upon specific future plans of the organization. Others include the following; Planning for clear objectives and goals. Planning for change in manpower profiles and requirements, Planning for manpower development, Planning for expansion for operational trends, planning for creativity and rewards, planning for crisis, turbulence and peace and planning for aggression, compromise, competition and co-operation. Why manpower planning is Important, Is the main measure of a nation strength in war or in peace, Its greatest asset for achieving productivity, Key to nation survival, prosperity and future economic and social development, a product of total life of the society- quality or its inferiority, an integrative force for executing any organization or societal plan, essential for organizational survival, and prosperity.
